Tab Benoit and John Oates — Denver, CO 2010

We’d like to turn you on to the shows we’re hoping to attend, so that maybe you’ll check out an artist new to you, or reconnect with an old favorite. Barring our correspondents’ loss of consciousness or forced ejection, you can look forward to reviews of these shows:

Old 97s – Bluebird Theater, Denver, CO 6/5/16 ( the Texas band named after Thomas Hart Benton’s painting of a train wreck comes off the rails with the impossibly handsome Rhett Miller out front. Guard your date, guys! )

Alejandro Escovedo – Ponte Vedra Concert Hall, Ponte Vedra, FL 6/5/15 ( One of TJ’s favorite artists: ” he rocks harder than guys half his age ” ! )

Samantha Fish– Stargazers, Colorado Springs, CO 6/24/16 ( the Kansas City star brings her rocking show to the round venue in the square town!)

Robert Cray Band and the Delta Sonics – Hudson Gardens, Denver, CO ( the smooth crooning, fine picking  Strong Persuader and Denver’s favorite local blues band; come early and picnic on the grass!)

Joe Bonamassa – Red Rocks Amphitheater, Morrison, CO 7/19/16 ( Yes, that’s Joe in his black lowtop Chuck Taylors on the sidebar of our homepage. Trust us; he’s worthy! )

Weezer-Fiddler’s Green, Denver, CO 7/24/16 ( Summer touring behind ‘ the white album ‘, Rivers Cuomo and crew rock this outdoor venue in the Tech Center)

Booker T. Jones, Shamekia Copeland, Grant Sabin, and more – Blues Under the Bridge, Colorado Springs, CO 7/30/16 (the legendary Memphis Master Booker T. graces this terrific festival under the Colorado Avenue bridge, where the drummer can almost dap up the conductor as trains pass behind the flatbed stage throughout the day!)

Tedeschi-Trucks Band, Los Lobos, North Mississippi Allstars– Red Rocks Amphitheater, Morrison, CO 8/5/16 ( The First Family of the blues, joined by two headline-worthy  acts, for perhaps the summer’s best lineup!)

Bonnie Raitt– Red Rocks Amphitheater, Morrison, CO 9/8/16 ( the ” little redheaded girl ” who turned John Hiatt’s ” Thing Called Love ” into a Grammy returns to this iconic venue with the great Brit songwriter/guitarist Richard Thompson; not to be missed!)

Wishbone Ash – Stargazers, Colorado Springs, CO 9/9/16 ( One of the major innovators of the harmony twin lead guitar format in the early 70s, with Andy Powell carrying on minus Ted Turner. Hope they play selections from Argus ! )
